Sexy New Figure from Native

Native aren’t usually my favourite figure maker, but they’ve really got me on this one.

It’s a 1/8 scale figure of original illustration character, Sara in stunning bunny girl lingerie. What’s more, the lingerie can be removed to put her body on full display!

Lewdness aside, her delicate facial features and richly coloured eyes make her quite the beautiful figure.

She’s on my wishlist..

New Strike the Blood OVA is out!

Strike the Blood OVA II I volume 1 has been released in japan and Renka blog posted a review of it including the Blu-ray packaging and vast numbers of screenshots of all the good bits. It came with a really nice A3 clear poster of the main heroine Yukina Himeragi, pictured right below.

As can now be expected from Strike the Blood, the fanservice scenes are forthcoming, from panty-shots to nipple-presenting bathing scenes. I’ve done some highly professional self-censoring for this blog, but head over to Renka to see them in all their naked glory.

Imouto Sae Ireba Ii Limited Addition Comes with a Card Game

Featuring the god-tier bishoujo artwork of Kantoku and snappy, engaging writing, Imouto Sae Ireba Ii is one of my favourite novel series.

I found out that the limited release edition of the brand new volume 11 comes with a pretty cool – an imouto themed card game. I haven’t seen a photo of the rules yet, but it looks like a pretty simple and amusing self-contained game based on what I can see on the cards.

It might just be the Kantoku artwork beckoning me but I really want to get my hands on this.

NieR Automatica Meets Soul Calibur VI

img_20181219_1133518712639649832094399.jpg

I note with enthusiasm that the NieR Automatica DLC for Soul Calibur 6 has been released, the highlight of which is that the leading lady 2B is now a playable character.

Most importantly, the DLC does not waste the potential of B2/A2’s various assets, with the costumes giving plenty of eye candy.

I haven’t got around to buying the game yet, but this is definitely pushing me to get it.

Light Novel Choroin Desuga Koibito ni wa Naremasenka? – Looks great!

Japanese Title:ちょろいんですが恋人にはなれませんか?

The second volume of this light novel series came out in Japan just recently and instantly grabbed me with its cover illustration. It’s pretty hard to avert your eyes from any artwork of a short-haired blonde loli in a loosening school uniform, but something about this adorable, soft art style definitely stuck with me.

I don’t think anyone has thought of translating it yet, but the setup seems to be a pretty standard love-comedy routine based around a harem of three girls. The twist for this series is in the titular ‘choroin’ (a mix of choroi meaning easy and heroine). The main character saves three girls from trouble in short succession in the one eventful day only to have all three of them confess their love for him in just 5 minutes. Easy girls indeed! Suspiciously easy..

There isn’t much more to the setup, but it seems fairly popular so I’m guessing it has a decently fun writing style.

The art is definitely a winner here, seems to be the pro debut for doujinshi artist TwinBox. Pixiv: https://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?id=264932

The designs aren’t too derivative and are packed with individuality, and his soft lines and vibrant hues really pull you in. He also has a knack for restrained sexiness in his drawings that make them nice and erotic without giving too much away!

Hoping someone picks this up at some point as I’d really like to check it out!

I want to play Senran Kagura Peach Ball..

So the latest Senran Kagura game came out the other day in Japan for Switch. The theme this time of animal girls is totally my style so I really can’t wait to play it. Combining pinball with sexiness is an ..innovative concept to say the least, but as long as it’s quick casual fun I’m all onboard.

Not sure it will get a Western release so might need to get by with my average Japanese skills..

Gran Blue Game Announcements

Granblue Fest is over and the highlights were clear:

New Gameplay Footage for ReLink

I could never really get into the GranBlue mobile game (mainly because I’m too lazy to get it installed on my phone), but I’ve always loved the art and designs. So I’ve been keenly awaiting this game as a way for me to get into the series. This sneak of gameplay looks really promising with stunning visuals and fun, dynamic gameplay! Definitely excited to grab this when it comes out on PS4 (despite Sony’s censorship crap..)

Reveal Trailer for Granblue Fantasy Versus

Another great announcement, this one a 2D fighting game for PS4. I dabbled in Guilty Gear and Blazblue, and this obviously has a similar playstyle but with those luscious, beautiful Granblue designs. Definitely interested in this one too.

SAO Progressive Vol 5 Review

Sword_Art_Online_Progressive_Volume_05

After successfully untangling themselves from a dangerous encounter with
the Black Poncho Man and clearing the fifth floor of Aincrad, Kirito and Asuna
head to the next challenge, an area filled with…puzzles?
What’s more,
because of the precarious balance of power between two large guilds aiming for
the same item, “The Flag of Valor”, there’s also a murderous PK group to be wary
of. As the problems seem to pile up, Kirito and Asuna face the sixth floor of
Aincrad completely unaware of the malicious trap awaiting them!!

Reki Kawahara’s Sword Art Online series seems to be a divisive topic across the anime fandom, with people either firmly in the hate it or love it category. Putting the whole rape controversy aside, most critics take aim at the wasted potential of the original SAO scenario – thousands of players locked in an RPG of death only to quickly divert into more standard action/harem tones. Progressive is Reki Kawahara’s answer to that – revisiting the original story and fleshing it out in earnest. Each novel is a floor of Aincrad, and he leaves few stones unturned in addressing the players personal feelings about being trapped in the game, the budding societal friction as guilds start to form, the mechanics of the game and, of most interest to me, the PK element.

I’ve really loved this series so far – at this point Kawahara is a far better writer than when he tackled his early sword art stuff and it shows. He has a far better handle of character and the prose is fleshed out and interesting to delve into. The floor boss fights are usually a highlight – Kawahara is a master of ramping up the tension with devious twists and turns in these battles. Unfortunately, this novel splits the current floor into two books, so we won’t get the boss fight until next volume, but this excitement is supplemented by another knife’s edge encounter with the cunning and bloodthirsty PKers.

Kirito and Asuna are ambushed by Morte and a accomplice while they are completely paralised as part of a story quest. How they manage to cheat death and fight their way out of this impossible situation makes for a thrilling chapter. Kirito’s duels with Morte are always so well written, with each and every blow of the battle described with suspense and adrenaline-fueled quick-thinking. This time Asuna is also involved and really saves the day with her fearless wit.

If i had to name a flaw in Progressive it has been in Asuna’s characterisation. It’s fairly clear that Kawahara can’t write female characters overly well, and Asuna’s cute jabs and death stares at Kirito over every social misstep often miss the cute he was aiming for and land squarely in annoying territory. This novel is a big improvement though, striking the right balance between being confident and willful, but also frigid bashful as you might expect from a young maiden. There are some really cute moments with her and Kirito this chapter that give much needed chemistry to their romance.

And of course it wouldn’t be SAO with a touch of fanservice so we get an obligatory bath scene thrown in at the end – not that I’m complaining. Circumstances lead to Kirito wrestling with Asuna naked in the bath and they are joined by the well-endowed Kizmel. An enviable scenario to be in, no doubt.
